Forte Michelangelo
The Renaissance fortress guarding the harbour, right beside the port gate. Best seen from the outside on the way into town.
Five cruise terminals are run by Roma Cruise Terminal (RCT). The Donato Bramante terminal on quay 12 opened in late 2025. Your berth is shown in the port's monthly cruise list.
You cannot walk out of the cruise berths. A free shuttle run by Port Mobility links all cruise quays (10, 11, 12, 12 bis, 13, 13 bis and 25) with the Largo della Pace service centre at the port gate, about 10–15 minutes. From Largo della Pace the old town is a few minutes' walk and Civitavecchia station about 1.5 km (15–20 minutes). There is also a direct bus from the ships to the station for cruise passengers on ship days (about 15 minutes, €6 each way, ticket on board), and a paid coach from Largo della Pace to Rome (stops at San Pietro and Termini).
Port Mobility says its shuttles are accessible. At Civitavecchia station some platforms need stairs; free assistance can be booked at least an hour ahead (800 90 60 60 from an Italian landline).
