Archaeological Museum of Piraeus
A compact museum near the port known for its large ancient bronze statues found in Piraeus. A good choice for a short call; check opening days locally.
Piraeus is the port for Athens, about 12 km from the centre, so the Acropolis and the old city are a metro or taxi ride away rather than a walk. Plan around the travel time and the Acropolis queues, and keep Piraeus's own harbours in mind for a short day.
Which port are you visiting?
Walk about 15 minutes to Piraeus metro station, then Line 1 to Thissio or Monastiraki or Line 3 to Monastiraki or Syntagma (about 20–25 minutes). Bus 049 runs to Omonia and the seasonal X80 express (summer) runs from the cruise quays to the Acropolis area and Syntagma; it needs a day ticket. Taxi to the Acropolis area about 25–40 minutes depending on traffic.
Cruise Terminals B (Themistocles) and C (Alkimos), Gate E12These terminals are further west along the quay and the walk to Piraeus metro station is long (around 30 minutes or more). Use the free port shuttle within the port, then a taxi, bus or metro. Taxi to the Acropolis area about 30–45 minutes.
Add your ship's times above to see what fits in your time ashore.
