Acropolis of Rhodes (Monte Smith)
Hilltop ruins of the ancient city, with a partly rebuilt temple of Apollo, a small theatre and a stadium. A short taxi or city bus ride from the harbour.

Lindos and its acropolis
A white village under a clifftop acropolis with a temple of Athena and huge sea views, about 55 km south. The climb is steep and hot. From November to March the acropolis is closed on Tuesdays.
