Basilica of St Nicholas (San Nicola)
A pale Romanesque basilica built to house the relics of St Nicholas, still a major pilgrimage site for Catholic and Orthodox Christians. The crypt holds his tomb.
Terminal address: Corso Antonio de Tullio. The port authority is AdSP del Mare Adriatico Meridionale.
Walk out of the port and follow the seafront south to Bari Vecchia: about 15 to 25 minutes to the Basilica of San Nicola depending on where your ship is berthed. Ships at outer quays may use an internal port shuttle to the terminal first. Taxis wait outside the port gate; some cruise lines run a shuttle to the centre. Bari Centrale railway station is about 30 to 35 minutes on foot or a short taxi ride.
The seafront walk is flat and paved; the old town has smooth but uneven stone paving and a few steps up to the walls.
